EFFECTIVE NOVENA TO THE HOLY GUARDIAN ANGELS: DAY 1

Opening Prayer:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father, Creator of all things visible and invisible, we thank you for the gift of our Guardian Angels, who watch over and protect us. As we begin this novena, we ask for the grace to grow closer to our Guardian Angels and to deepen our friendship with them. Guide us through these days of prayer and reflection. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scriptural Reading and Meditation:
Read and meditate on Psalm 91:9-12:

“9 If you say, ‘The Lord is my refuge,’ and you make the Most High your dwelling,
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

Imagine yourself in a place of safety and serenity (if possible, pray a meditative organ music that can help you reflect), and seek refuge in the presence of the Lord. As you meditate on these verses, several key points come to light:

1. The Refuge in God: The opening of the passage invites you to declare, “The Lord is my refuge.” This is a powerful affirmation of your trust and reliance on God. Picture yourself taking refuge in His loving care, a place where you find comfort and protection.
2. Safety and Security: Reflect on the promise that when the Lord is your refuge and your dwelling place is in the Most High, harm and disaster will not overtake you. Visualize God’s protective shield around you, like a secure tent that nothing can breach.
3. The Ministry of Angels: Consider the role of angels in your life as mentioned in verse 11. God commands His angels concerning you. Visualize these celestial beings as mighty protectors, standing watch over you, guarding you in all your ways. They are like sentinels, ever ready to intervene when necessary. Remember they fought against satan and his demons and defeated them from the heavenly places. Thus, God made them powerful and has placed them to watch over you.
4. Lifting You Up: Picture the image of angels lifting you up in their hands. It’s a beautiful representation of the care and support they offer. Imagine yourself being carried gently, high above the dangers and obstacles of life, so that you will not even strike your foot against a stone.
5. God’s Faithfulness: As you meditate on these verses, recognize the faithfulness of God. He has provided you with these celestial companions, your Guardian Angels, to guide, protect, and uplift you on your journey through life.

Take a few moments to connect with these images and feelings. Feel the security of God’s refuge, the presence of your Guardian Angels, and the promise of safety in His care. Let this meditation deepen your trust in God and your appreciation for the role of your Guardian Angels in your life. Holy Guardian Angels, protectors of our souls, Pray for us

Comforters in times of fear and doubt, Pray for us
Bringing us God’s messages and inspirations, Pray for us
Leading us closer to Jesus, Pray for us
Watching over us day and night, Pray for us

My dear guardian angel, help us to recognize your presence and guidance in our lives. Amen

Improving Our Closeness and Friendship with Our Guardian Angels:
Take a moment to reflect on how you can improve your relationship with your Guardian Angel. Consider how you can be more aware of their presence and guidance in your daily life. This may include praying to them more frequently, asking for their help in specific situations, or simply acknowledging their presence with gratitude. In this very context, utilize this moment to thank your guardian angel for offering that ONE petition you asked him to God. Thank him for interceding for you as your closest friend. Thank God in faith for the answered prayer, and believing God for your testimonies.

Prayer to our Guardian Angels:
Angel of God, my Guardian dear,
To whom God’s love commits me here,
Ever this day/night be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Concluding Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for this first day of our novena to the Guardian Angels. May we continue to grow in our friendship with them and seek their guidance and protection throughout our lives. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Even if I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, the Lord is with me, He has sent my guardian angel to minister, guard, and protect me…
