FEAST OF OUR LADY OF THE HOLY ROSARY: 15 PROMISES OF MARY TO
CHRISTIANS WHO RECITE THE ROSAY
CHRISTIANS WHO RECITE THE ROSAY
(A HOLY REMINDER FOR ALL CATHOLICS IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER)
Pope St. Pius V instituted this feast in thanksgiving for the great
naval victory over the Turks at the battle of Lepanto on this day (on October
7, 1571); a favour granted to him due to the recitation of the Rosary. Pope St.
Pius V and all Christians had prayed the Rosary for victory. This victory saved
Europe from being overrun by the forces of Islam. Therefore, this month of October offers us the opportunity to
intensify our devotion to our Blessed Mother Mary. Let us endeavour to pray the
rosary daily throughout this month, and possibly beyond. I will share with you
the benefits of reciting the Holy Rosary:

Our Lady’s 15 Promises for Praying
the Rosary
the Rosary
Besides the Indulgences attached
to the Rosary, Our Lady revealed to St. Dominic and Blessed Alan de la Roche (in
an apparition) additional benefits for those who devoutly pray the Rosary. Below
are the promises with corresponding explanations which I proffered in
parentheses:

are the promises with corresponding explanations which I proffered in
parentheses:
1. Whosoever
shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal
graces.

(Signal graces are extraordinary
graces that move the soul by the intellect and will in such a way that the
reception of the grace — to a certain degree — can even be detected by
others — or less commonly, even in ourselves. So I guess they can be a “sign”
of God’s mercy, but we should know that all grace is God’s mercy whether or not
it is detectable. Most grace, after all, is not able to be detected.).

2. I
promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall
recite the Rosary.

she will watch especially over those who pray the Rosary)

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armour against hell, it will
destroy vice, decrease sin and defeat heresies.

(Since the rosary is the summary
work of man’s redemption; that is, the means by which man was redeemed – the summary
of the lives and works of Jesus and Mary, hence, a frequent recitation of this
prayer is capable of shielding us from eternal damnation and place us on the
road of holiness).

4. It
will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the
abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the
world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire for Eternal Things.
Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
(Since the rosary is about the
salvific work of Christ, and Christ has made us to understand that the true
treasure lies in heaven, the rosary is capable of placing our minds for the
desire of eternal things, where Christ is, and thus inculcate in us the
necessary virtues to obtain it.)

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the
Rosary shall not perish.
Rosary shall not perish.
(The part which says “…Holy
Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death amen”
indicates that we have a loving mother who prays and intercedes on our behalf,
and when we die, we shall not perish. Simply put, the rosary is capable of

6. Whosoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to
the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by
misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an
unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become
worthy of Eternal Life.

down God’s Mercy rather than His Justice and having a chance of repentance
before death (see promise #7).

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die
without the Sacraments of the Church.

benefits of obtaining the most possible Graces at the hour of death via the
Sacraments of Confession, Eucharist, and Extreme Unction (Anointing of the
Sick). Being properly disposed while receiving these Sacraments near death
ensures one’s salvation).

living on earth, the close that person is to Him also in Heaven. The Catechism
of the Catholic Church states “Spiritual progress tends toward ever more

14. All who recite the Rosary are my Sons, and brothers of my Only
Son Jesus Christ.

the “Lord’s Prayer” when he referred to God as “Our Father”; hence, because the

15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
(Daily recitation of the holy
rosary enables us to live a holy life by doing the will of God, thus,
guaranteeing us salvation. (See also paragraphs 381, 488, 600, 2782 in the
