In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
Opening Prayer:
Lord Jesus Christ, Risen Saviour and Conqueror of death, As we embark on this novena in honour of Your Resurrection, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and praise. Grant us the grace to enter deeply into the mystery of Your triumph over sin and death, and to be transformed by the power of Your Resurrection. May this time of prayer draw us closer to You, and fill us with the joy of Your eternal victory (pause and pray for the gift of faith and add your private intention). We ask this through You, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever. Amen.
Scriptural Reading & Meditation
(Scripture Reading: Luke 24:1-12)
On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel; and as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead? Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise.’ And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told this to the apostles; but these words seemed to them an idle tale, and they did not believe them. But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home wondering at what had happened.
The Gospel of the Lord…
Short Meditation
In the Gospel of Luke, we encounter the account of the women who went to the tomb of Jesus on the first day of the week. They found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty, and they were perplexed. Suddenly, two men in dazzling clothes appeared to them and said, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen!” This proclamation of the Resurrection fills us with hope and joy. It reminds us that Jesus has triumphed over death and offers us the promise of new life. As we meditate on this passage, let us ponder the significance of Christ’s Resurrection in our own lives and allow it to renew our faith and trust in Him.
